According to Speaker Rich Hopkins there are different types of costuming:
- Exaggeration - Make your costume very silly and immediately funny (e.g., wear bellbottom pants which are three feet wide at the bottom)
- Different - Dress in a way completely different from how you usually dress (e.g., if you are a very conservative dressing person, dress in something brightly colored and flashy)
- Incorrect - Dress in a way that is opposite to the occasion (e.g., at a formal dinner event come out onstage dressed blue jeans)
