- Link - create a clear linking sentence or phrase that ties the ideas of what you finished saying with what you are about to say (e.g., "Once you have completed the first step of engagement, you need to do the second step...")
- Break - create a clear pause that breaks the audience's focus on what you were talking about and allows them to start wondering about what you will be talking about next
