World Champion Speaker Lance Miller suggests you can create a more lasting impact by being specific in your speech about when events happened. For example, while you could say, "I have always wanted to be a public speaker," to create more impact say, "Since I was 5 years old, when I first saw Johnny Carson on the television, I have wanted to be a professional speaker. Seeing that man up there on that huge stage, holding the audience in the palm of his hand, I thought, "I want to do that!" "
