Mark Heaps of the presentation company Duarte suggests these tips for reducing nervousness and stuttering on stage:
- Breathe deep - right before going onstage, focus on slowing down your breathing and taking slow, controlled breaths that push out your stomach when you breathe in and push in your stomach when you breathe out
- Walk around - give your speech out loud while walking outside or while on a treadmill - walking will help you get into a rhythm with your speech
- Get sleep - the day before your speech, make sure you get plenty of rest so you are relaxed and ready to go on "speech day"
