Jeremy Donovan's study of TED talks suggests you can use three different styles for presenting your slides:
- One picture on the slide - for greater effect show only part of the picture on the slide and let the audience imagine the rest (i.e., make the picture too big to fit on the slide - crop out the part of the picture that doesn't fit on the slide)
- Few words with over-sized text (e.g., entire slide is filled with three lines, one word per line reading "CHEAPER BETTER FASTER")
- Large number of very simple slides projected very quickly (e.g., one slide every second (or less) for a 10 minute presentation)
