Professional speaker Patricia Fripp suggests you use this speaking warmup to open up your voice:
- Stand or sit upright
- Slowly breathe in through your nose, filling up your chest and feeling your stomach pushing down as you breathe in
- Hold your breath for two seconds
- Slowly breathe out through your nose feeling your stomach push upward as the air leaves your body
- Repeat
- After you have repeated several times, make a humming sound when you breathe out, leaving your breath exactly the same way as it has been when you were not humming
- Repeat
