To connect with the audience, move toward the audience. To make this powerful in your presentation, find the places in your presentation where you want the most audience attention, then move toward the audience during those points, move away from the audience after the "high point" is over. The method you use depends on the room:
- U-shape - easiest to connect with the audience - move into the middle of the U and connect directly with an audience member - step out of the U once your "high point" is over
- Classroom - if there is an aisle, use it to step into the audience - if there is no aisle, step forward toward the front row of the audience
- Auditorium - if there is an aisle, use it to step into the audience - if there is no aisle, step forward on the stage toward the front row of the audience
