Fellow speaker,

If you want to add strength to your speech, link your speech ideas to something in your audience's mind:  a great person, a significant time or something else.  For example, you could say, "Robert Kennedy faced a missile crisis which could have ended up in world disaster if he'd made one wrong move.  And so today, we are faced with a similar crisis, not of missiles this time, but instead of..."
