Cross-culture communication - part 1

Fellow speaker,

When speaking to someone from a different culture who might have ways that are foreign to you:
  1. Speak slowly
  2. Pause often
  3. Speak literally - avoid common phrases which don't make literal sense (e.g., "Let's touch base on that later.")
  4. Test out your humor - humor often depends on knowing the culture of the person telling the joke, try telling the joke to someone of that culture and ask them if it is funny or not
