Introduction in five steps

Fellow speaker,

Here are the basics of having a great introduction that gets the audience ready to hear your speech:
  1. Make the first sentence about your audience and their issues
  2. Promise your audience will benefit from your speech and spell out that benefit
  3. Use only credentials that are directly relevant to whatever you are talking about
  4. Put something in the introduction that you can call back to later in the speech
  5. Take all the information about yourself and make it a direct result of the things the audience will learn from your speech
Basically,
