Leave out the obvious

Fellow speaker,

Some things you can expect the audience to know, so you don't have to explain them.  For example, if you don't need to say, "Helen Keller, the famous blind person, said."   You can reasonably expect that your audience will know that Helen Keller is a blind person.  So instead say, "Helen Keller said" and go from there.
