People can focus very intently for up to 18 minutes...and then they hit "the wall" and they lose their focus. So when you give your presentation, make sure to have some ways to "break up" the information so people get some "relief" time after which they can come back and refocus. Here are some ways to "break things up":
- Give the basics in about 15 minutes and then have a Questions and Answers session to cover the details
- Speak for 18 minutes and then use another speaker and alternate between speakers
- Speak for 18 minutes and then show a video clip that relates to your topic
- Tell a story every 30 seconds to a minute of your speech that is clearly linked to the theme of your speech
