Charging process

Fellow speaker,

Professional speaker Judy Carter suggests when someone asks you "How much do you charge to give a speech?" (and you know the amount you charge):
  1. Get them talking about their event so you understand their needs
  2. Talk about how your speech matches their needs
  3. Quote your price
  4. Shut up and wait
  5. If they turn you down and they are within 25% of your price, look for ways to modify either what they provide you or give you more value in exchange for accepting the lower price
  6. If they still won't budge on the price, take a night to think it over
  7. If you do accept the lower price, get the client to agree not to disclose the discounted price
