To tell a lie

Fellow speaker,

Professional speaker Judy Carter suggests you create laughs by using this formula for comic lying:
  1. Tell a lie
  2. Quietly admit it was a lie and give an explanation
  3. Quieter still give more details about the lie starting with "Actually..."
  4. Then say, "Anyway..." drawing out the word then quickly changing the subject back to your speech
For example, "The reason I'm so healthy is I walk a 100 miles a day! Well, that's not quite true, I walk about 10 miles a day. Actually, I avoid walking entirely and have people carry me everywhere I want to go. Anyway..."
