According to Speaker Rich Hopkins, when you are onstage and you forget what you are going to say next, you can:
- Say anything - move to a different point that you do remember, jump forward in your speech, or find another way to relax and keep speaking
- Stop speaking - stop speaking entirely, and casually walk to a different part of the stage, which gives the audience a chance to think about what you just said and gives your mind a chance to remember what you are going to say next
- Restart the speech section - go to your notes, find out where you are in your speech, and restart your speech from that point
