Professional speaker Patricia Fripp recommends you go to the stage before you speak, walk around on it, and have someone in front of the stage tell you when you are well-lit by the stage lights and when you are under-lit by the stage lights. Then, when doing your speech, remember to do your speech from the well-lit parts of the stage.
