- Relate to meeting theme - bring up the theme of the meeting and blend that into your speech points
- Big promise or claim - make a big promise that the audience will get something out of the presentation - make sure you deliver what you promised
- Connect immediately to audience - if corporate presentation, find a way to connect yourself directly with the company (e.g., you are speaking to United Airlines so you refer to yourself by your United Airlines frequent flyer number)
