- "I love your theme..." - when speaking at a conference/event that has a definite theme - inspirational and motivational
- "If I were to ask you..." - question should be directly relevant to the point you are making in your speech
- "Who would have thought..." - sets up a story of where you were, where you are now, and how you got here
