Fellow speaker,
In addition to moving side to side on the stage, you can move forward and back. Moving forward increases energy with the audience while moving backward decreases it. You can use forward and backward movement to build up to a climax in your speech or to indicate nervousness or withdrawal. Balancing out both effects in your speech leads to a "roller-coaster" effect that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, not knowing what is going to happen next.
On the edge,
Tim
