The three "R"s for connecting to the hearts and minds of your audience are:
- Recognize - understanding the problem
- Remember - remembering and telling the details of the problem
- Respond - your plan to respond to the problem
For example, "Unemployment is very high now. Yesterday I talked to Bob, who has been out of work for three years. He looks every day for a job and has found nothing yet. Extending unemployment will make it possible for Bob to get food and shelter while he continues his job search."
