Fellow speaker,
There are certain phrases which are so old, so over-used that when people here them, they automatically "turn off" their minds (e.g., "Hot enough for you?"). AVOID these phrases, or reword them in a new way. For example, instead of saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!" Say "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it think!" Same idea, but the second example is creative and original. It helps the audience see the "horse" situation in an entirely new way.
Newly,
Tim
