To handle heckling and people being rude to you while speaking:
- Stop talking - let the loud talker talk to themselves without your help
- Make a joke that connects the person to their job - if you are speaking to people who all do the same job, make a joke that connects the heckling person to their job
- Call the heckler your "research assistant"
