Here are the basics of having a great introduction that gets the audience ready to hear your speech:
- Make the first sentence about your audience and their issues
- Promise your audience will benefit from your speech and spell out that benefit
- Use only credentials that are directly relevant to whatever you are talking about
- Put something in the introduction that you can call back to later in the speech
- Take all the information about yourself and make it a direct result of the things the audience will learn from your speech
