In order to get the audience sympathetic to you and interested in your message, first share with them some of the failures and tragedies you have had in your life. Later, you will talk about the successes you have had and how you have been able to overcome those failures and tragedies. This gets people thinking that, if your methods worked to help you overcome your problems, they can work for them, too.
